Both HS and IS report that police and Border Guard officials were meeting certain arriving flights, including those from Copenhagen, Frankfurt, and Munich.
One passenger on an SAS flight from Copenhagen around 8:30 p.m. told HS that officers inspected every traveler’s passport in the exit corridor before they entered the terminal.
The Helsinki Police Command Center confirmed to Ilta-Sanomat that surveillance at the airport had been stepped up on Friday. However, officials declined to explain the reason for the heightened measures. Police stated that further information would be released on Saturday.
