A young international student working in the Helsinki region endured a harrowing encounter during a routine delivery shift in Vantaa late last night. The student arrived in Finland in 2023 to pursue higher education and was working with Wolt and Posti when the incident occurred near Esikotie 9.

What began as a normal delivery quickly turned into a nightmare as a man stepped in front of the student’s vehicle attempting to stop it by requesting a ride. Assuming the man might be intoxicated the delivery worker cautiously drove forward to complete the delivery. However, the man followed him into the building.
As the worker attempted to enter the premises the man forced his way inside and prevented the door from closing. It became immediately apparent that the situation was dangerous as the man appeared to be concealing something in one hand and waited ominously by the lift. Trusting his instincts the delivery worker opted to take the stairs.
Upon completing the delivery and returning to the ground floor he was confronted again and this time the man brandished a pair of scissors and aggressively demanded money. When told there was none the suspect attempted to stab the victim and threatened to set both him and his car on fire using a lighter he was carrying.
The attacker pursued the delivery worker to his car and damaged the passenger-side mirror before forcing his way inside. He seized a wallet belonging to a friend of the victim and ransacked it in search of cash. However during this chaos the victim managed to contact the police and capture video evidence of the event.
The police responded efficiently and took the suspect into custody but despite being arrested the man reportedly continued threats including vowing to track down and kill the victim.
The traumatic incident has left the student deeply shocked. “I couldn’t sleep. I tried going out today but I can’t stop thinking about it. Everyone suddenly feels like a threat,” he shared. With most of his work shifts scheduled at night the student now fears for his safety but feels he has no choice but to continue working to support himself.
“This wasn’t a mere robbery but it was an attempt to kill me,” he stated.
This disturbing event serves as an unsettling reminder that even in countries widely regarded as safe, danger can emerge unexpectedly and the victim is urging others and especially fellow delivery workers to stay vigilant and not take their safety for granted.
