According to an official statement a Pakistani national, in cooperation with a Pakistani consultancy firm orchestrated the arrangement of false work-related residence permits for individuals from Pakistan.

The permits were issued for welding jobs at a foreign company linked to the Finnish shipyard sector. Using these falsified permits 12 Pakistani citizens successfully entered Finland while applications for an additional 38 individuals remained pending with the company.

Those brought into Finland paid the operation between €1,500 and €8,000 each depending on their individual situations, to cover both the permit process and their travel expenses. The Pakistani consultancy openly promoted the Finnish residence permit application process through its social media platforms.

The Eastern Uusimaa District Court handed down a three-year unconditional prison sentence to the man who had been living and operating in Finland. He was also ordered to repay €90,000 to the state representing the profits gained through the illegal activity. However, the court’s decision is not yet legally binding.
