In a press release the company explained that the planned restructuring aims to make operations more efficient and align the Finnish customer service team with Wolt’s wider global model. The company also highlighted that in the future employees in customer service roles will need strong knowledge of both language and culture.

From a business perspective Wolt’s move can be seen as a step toward addressing oversaturation in the customer service market and adapting to global demands that is a shift that may ultimately strengthen the company’s position. However, this restructuring also puts at risk employees who may not have alternative career options including those who rely on these roles despite lacking high-level language proficiency.

This raises broader concerns at a time when employment opportunities are already in decline. Workers affected by these cuts will need viable paths to other jobs and ensuring such opportunities exist is critical to preventing unemployment from deepening further in Finland.

Wolt currently employs about 15,000 people worldwide with roughly 10 percent of its workforce based in Finland.
